José Clemente Orozco was a Mexican painter and a major muralist of the 20th century. He is known for his politically charged murals that made social commentary on the Mexican Revolution and its aftermath. Orozco's style was characterized by its use of strong, bold strokes and its reliance on symbolism and metaphor. He was heavily influenced by pre-Columbian art and the work of Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Orozco's work can be found in Mexico, the United States, and around the world. He died in 1949 at the age of 66.
